“2010+” KAILAGER SPIRIT LIVES ON IN CHOMA

Many thanks to the teens of Kailager Youth Camp 2010! With your financial contribution the MCOP managed to run the feeding program for two more weeks! The feeding program is an initiative of the MCOP to boost children during the activities such as Kids Club and the accompaniment program (homework tutoring) with the help of a simple meal. Many of the children are orphans coming from impoverished backgrounds, raised by their grandparents or elder siblings.

For these children every meal might be considered “manna from heaven” but we believe, providing children one meal per week can hardly be called a “feeding scheme”. We would love to extend the program but are nowhere near possessing sufficient funds. In fact, even this simple feeding scheme is under threat due to lack of funding.

As we face this threat, we trust that God has a plan for us. He might convince those who can to make that difference. During the collection on Kailager, Pastor Edwin Dedekind asked the youth what 2,50 Rand (0,25€) could buy them in South Africa. In Zambia 2,50 Rand can buy a child a meal (excluding the costs of charcoal and transport). I am touched by the way the youth’s simple gesture in South Africa has sustained our feeding scheme throughout the month of February in Zambia. Now I expect God to move someone else’s heart to do likewise.

For those of you who believed Kailager 2010 was over, you couldn’t be more wrong. This article should demonstrate, how long after that marvelous week in January the Kailager spirit lived on through the food it could provide to children in Zambia. This year’s theme was “2010+” and we have just proven that it still is!
