FMF IN ACTION - A REAL BARGAIN!

The Friends of Mmabana Foundation e.V. (FMF e.V.) took action for the first time – and with success. On a crisp morning in May five well-meaning figures scurry towards the Stephansplatz in Karlsruhe, Germany. At this early hour, it’s hard not to think of coffee, so one of them scurries off to get the team a handful of caffeine-rich motivation. In the meantime, the others unload the crammed car, bustle through bags full of donated little pieces of wonder; they empty them and align the content on two fold-tables, against which leans a striking sign set of slightly wet letters (since they had only been painted the night before) spell out: “Come support the work of the Mmabana Foundation in Zambia!”

It is market day in Karlsruhe and so the young association had the idea to literally “market” itself. They had collected useful donations from friends, grandmother’s old bling, the cousin’s old schoolbag, and a bear singing in French from ... who knows where that one came from.

But one thing is sure: the little child, who the bear will be lulling to sleep now, must be happy. Just as the mother was happy, when she managed to get him the singing bear. Just as the friends of the Mmabana Foundation were happy to spend a relaxed day in the sun, being together, sharing a pizza and take-way cappuccinos. Just as the members of the MCOP in Zambia were happy about their friends taking action for them in Germany.

The first action was a hit, not only because we managed to raise 165 Euros (50% of which will be used to continue the work in Germany and 50% goes directly towards the MCOP in Zambia) but because we now know that we can look forward to our next Action where many more will hopefully be taking part. Small actions, such as the day at the market, prove to us, that you only have to give a little to give a lot. And you always get a bit back, so that you can find joy in it.
