Kids Club
Aim
Developing children’s self-esteem, talents and social competence while offering an extra curriculum preparing their way for the future. In all actions sharing the love of God.
Objective
Offering a weekly activity for about 200 children aged from six to fourteen, not excluding any children that participate irregular.
Activities
- Providing spiritual reflections, a small library of biblical stories and history books to encourage their literacy
- Teaching values and ethics, and giving the children the opportunity to express themselves
- Creating awareness for and sensitization of their rights as children
- Advocate and lobby on children’s rights (2010 focus is on the birth certificate)
- Sharing fellowship through: a meal (Feeding Program); singing (choir); arts and craft, storytelling and poetry (leisure); dancing (cultural dance); soccer (sports)
- Counselling and understanding the children better through monthly home visits, gaining background information and build a relationship with the parents
Time of activity
Every Sunday during school term from 2pm to 5pm at the Shampande Basic School
Past events and highlights
- Joining of Chandamali Kids (6km walking distance – one way)
- African Child Day (participation of the cultural dance group)
- Introduction of the Feeding Program
- Participation on the Independence Day celebration
- Movie show at Mwawaggali Institute

Currently
We welcome between 250 and 300 children during each Kids Club. With about 50 volunteers assisting (30 are committed volunteers)
