Socio-economic Justice Training (SEJ)

Aim

Working towards meeting the MDG (Millennium Development Goals) set by the UN (United Nation) by being a catalyst for action.

Objective

  • Offering training and workshops to all interested members of the community promoting and enabling combined action towards meeting the MDG
  • Promoting dialogue – through platforms enabling idea exchange, knowledge and experience on social and economic justice
  • Strengthening Leadership – through training and awareness process, that seeks to expand the base of socio-economic justice activism in the ecumenical movement
  • Advocating for alternative policies and creating room for expression of the poor and inform policy formulations and implementations
  • Capacitating church leaders, traditional leaders and other role-models in society to influence policy decisions and practices in the public and private sectors.
  • To facilitate and reach out to other communities in the rural and semi-urban areas which cannot access the training at the MCOP office.
  • Finding and making information available and engaging, networking with resource agencies (both church and non-church) and donor partner organizations on specific social issues
  • Being a catalyst for action and offering expertise on social issues through the work of the programmes, through networking and by developing, producing and distributing relevant publications

Frequency

Every Wednesday afternoon at the MCOP office.

Past events and highlights

Enabling the MCOP Youth to articulate issues during a forum and symposium, whilst helping the community to voice out about the issues affecting their daily life and take part in their own development with decision markers in public participatory process.
